I love Chinese Food. Its one of those types of cooking which is always “safe” and you always know what to expect.

When “The Backpack Boy” Jasper Jugan invited me to lunch with his family, he suggested “Crystal Jade” in Greenhills. I had never heard of the place before and what came to mind with the name like Crystal Jade, alongside every stereotypical Chinese restaurant with the words, Golden… Lucky… Dragon… etc. in it was the type of old-style Chinese restaurant where you would see all of these old people celebrating a 50th Wedding Anniversary. Thankfully… this was not one of “those” kind of places.

As this was Sunday… and Greenhills… there were so many people. The restaurant was so snooty that they didn’t really accept reservations. And they refuse to seat you if your party isn’t complete. To make sure we got seats, we were there by 11:30am. (The picture below was taken when we left. And boy, there were so many people waiting to be seated.

It’s so authentic, even the order slip has Chinese on it. (Personally, I don’t think there was a need for that).

Xiao Long Bao. The first time I had this was just last June in a restaurant in Singapore called Din Tai Fung. Xiao Long Bao is a pork dumpling with some soup inside

The trick here is to consume this dish once its served. Be careful, as the soup may be hot ad scorch your tongue. It isn’t a good idea to leave some “pieces of shame” behind. Because once the soup cools, the dish looses its umph.

At this point, I have forgotten the names of all the dishes… hehe. Let my pictures do the talking nalang. I will just do my best to describe the dishes…

This was my order from the “Specialties” section. Some Fried Prawns with Garlic dish. This was quite tasty.

Next is some dumpling soup with very long noodles. A little bland. The soup tasted like the same soup in in the Xiao Long Bao.

We ordered the Seafood Fried Rice.

And the Siopao dough for the pork…

It was quite a tasty meal. It was a great lunch… of course the company was great as well.

This is a place I will definitely love to eat at again. I will take note of coming early to make sure that I get seated.
