Misato Japanese Restaurant, Metrowalk
I invited a friend to have lunch with me in the Ortigas area the other day, though I did not have place specific in mind. After he picked me up from my office, we quickly went through a list of the usual “areas” to have lunch. I suggested that we go to “somewhere in Metrowalk” because it was somewhat nearby.
When we got there, he suggested that we do Japanese. We then proceeded to Misato. I had never been to Misato though I admit it has been around for a while. It did not outwardly appear to be “my kind of place.” In fact, when he asked me if I was going to blog about the place, I said… “nah… I usually blog about hole-in-the-wall discoveries.” I also added that the place, with its somewhat neglected décor didn’t seem to impress me.
He dared me to just wait and taste the food. Apparently, my impressions of the place were indeed… misplaced. I quickly asked myself why I never bothered to try the place… ever. I love my Japanese food, and I have tried most of the popular Japanese places — in addition to the commercialized… yet really bad places. Misato has, after one meal, shot up to the top of my top 3 Japanese restos in the city.
I love Japanese places which serve the typical “dilis” appetizers. This one looked like there was more effort put into it than just plopping a spoonful of dilis on a little saucer.

I always love a helping of Tuna Sashimi. I like their presentation here.

Deo ordered Tamago… which I have never really had a thing for. But “in fairness” this tasted good.

Next came a nice helping of 9-piece tempura. Let me just say, I consider myself a tempura connoisseur. And I know my Tempura (the best one pa rin in the city is severed at Mandarin in Makati.. and the worst of course is Tokyo Tokyo.). This one has a real huge and plump prawns in the most perfect tempura batter. The Tempura sauce is also great. Simply fantastic!

And finally, an utterly mouth watering and delicious serving of Beef Teppanyaki. The beef was so succulent and flavorful. (OMG! Just writing about this makes my mouth water).

I believe I shall return here. Again and again and again.

The tempura looks delicious. How is the price, by the way?
The prices are “typical”. Let’s just say, the prices are not particularly high.
I recently just blogged about a japanese carinderia in my place almost below 100 prices with really competitive taste.. couldn’t get over with the price.. i hope i could try this one there though.. had just got back from manila so I don’t know when I’ll be back there..
Hi I’ve tried dining here too before..NICE and cozy. We opted for the videoke room upstairs. mejo luma nga lang ang song list nila. But the food is OH-so-great! Im not a fan of jap food, but this one satisfies my foodie buds. =)
Since you mentioned you love trying out Hole-in-the-wall restos…have you tried “ATSU- ATSU” in Araneta Ave.? They serve RAMEN and other Jap food. My fiancee is planning to go back there, to defeat the “Ramen King”. =)

Hi Hazel. thanks for the suggestion. I will try that one day.
I was a little confused when you said you ordered the tuna sashimi and then said you weren’t big on maguro. Maguro is the Japanese word for tuna. Did you mean the tamago? Because that’s what the picture looks like. Tamago is Japanese for egg.
Hello Kai. You are so right! I meant to say Tamago. I will edit the post later on with the correction. Thanks!!!
