Inasal Chicken Bacolod, Quezon City
If you are into grilled chicken, chances are you have eaten some form of grilled or barbecue chicken whose style hails from Bacolod… a style known as “Inasal.” Over the past decade, cropping up across the country, have been several restaurants that serve Insasal Chicken each of them with names which include one or all of the following words “Inasal,” “Chicken,” and “Bacolod” in a vast array of combination and word arrangements. I am sure that you could easily name at least 3 off the top of your head.
For lunch today, at the suggestion of a friend, I tried out Inasal Chicken Bacolod. I tried the branch in Cubao, Quezon City.

The décor was simple a tasteful, subtle colors, and play on lighting effects.

Ordering was slightly challenging. Not from a lack of anything to order, but rather confusion due to all the mouth watering selections to choose from. I was tempted to try some items not normally found in an inasal restaurant like Kare-Kare or from their variety of soups.
This being my first time, and wanting to compare it to others, I decided start off with the standard Chicken Inasal itself. I will try other fares in future visits.

Side note. I kinda like the cartoon chicken in their logo.
Their table amenities included your standard soy sauce and vinegar. You are then served the S.O.P. saucers and slices of Kalamansi and Chili to mix your own dipping sauce to your liking.

All of my items were served in logical order… meaning appetizer, main course, dessert. I don’t know if this was intentional or a coincidence. But it was indeed a thoughtful gesture if it was intentional. I notice that some restaurants don’t care and could serve your orders simply based on the what gets cooked first.
My appetizer arrived rather quickly. Those who follow my blog know I have an ongoing love-affair with “Chicken Skin” (P65). The serving size was quite big for a single order. Normally you get a handful of pieces on a little plate.
The chicken skin was quite crunchy and nicely seasoned. Though I found them a tad to dry and thus resulting in the over-fried effect and flavor. I would have shortened the frying time by a minute or two. Nevertheless, this being what it is… I finished it.

Served next was my Chicken Inasal.. Pa-a (thigh quarter) normally P98 but I got the combo which included “all you can eat rice” for P128.

Your first serving or rice is topped with a generous amount of fried garlic. Rice refills are just plain steamed rice.

Anyone who eats in a place like will mix their own dipping sauce. While the combination of kalamansi, soy sauce, vinegar, and chili do contribute a distinctive Filipino flavor to any meal, I wanted to see how the chicken tasted even without the sauce.

Fantastic Flavor!
As I implied earlier, I have eaten in quite a number of Inasal Restaurants… from across Metro Manila and even in Bacolod itself. Inasal Chicken Bacold has the most flavorful chicken inasal I have ever tasted. On its own, even without any sauce, the chicken was oozing with flavor! Bravo!
The chicken was moist. It was completely cooked straight through (sometimes barbecued chicken could be undercooked by the stick). I was pleasantly surprised.

I was so tempted, I also ordered a stick of Pork Barbecue (P42). Like the chicken, it was cooked just right.

For dessert, I was so tempted to try the turon, but I opted for my favorite dessert instead… Leche-Flan (P42)
It was served, I noticed that it looked kinda pale. I then realized that for some reason, the caramel side was on the bottom. Perhaps the waiter didn’t realize the caramel should be on top? I also noticed something that one who actually makes lechen flan would notice. This was authentic lechen flan cooked in a pressure cooker. Not the one made with gelatin that sets in a refrigerator. The “fake” lechen flan served in some restaurants is smooth.
I liked this leche flan. It was quite light and not as sweet as some leche flan could be.

All in all, I had a great meal. This is definitely one of those places I will visit again in anticipation of trying out the other items on their menu.
Highly Recommended!

I love all kinds of chicken inasal, I guess I would have to try this one since it’s the most flavorful one you’ve ever tried among the many inasal you had tried. (take it from the inasal hunter
)
Did they also give you some chicken oil?
Nope. No Chicken oil here. Actually hinahanap ko rin siya.

That’s for my other (rant) blog.
