Harris Ranch, Coalinga, California
Somewhere midway when driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco via I-5, one is sure to pass by Harris Ranch. That ranch surrounded by several hundred cattle roaming around, eating and defecating, and in the middle, a restaurant and hotel structure where you can rest from the long drive and eat one of the most delicious stakes you will ever have.

On this November 2010 drive with me was Ramil delos Santos. From the time we left Orange County, Harris Ranch was on my mind. We had timed our departure from the LA area to make it at Harris Ranch at around lunch time. Due to a few delays we a little off schedule.
In the many times I have the chance to drive up and down I-5 to and from LA from San Francisco, I have only eaten here around 3 times prior to this day. Steak being my favorite dish along with my gastronomic memories of this place, I was filled with much expectation.
I spotted the Harris Ranch sign from a distance and my excitement took over.

We parked and rushed in… because we were delayed, I was hungry for lunch!

We quickly ordered the Rib Eye

Harris Ranch had a number of dining areas to choose from. All the areas are rustic with ranch-style décor.

I started with a nice Cesar Salad.

Ate up the freshly backed bread

And of course my tall glass of Coke. Say what you will, I always have Coke with my steaks.

And here we go… my steak from multiple views…

Of course you can have your steak with rice instead of mashed potato…

Several minutes later…

Aaaah. Satisfied.

As we drove away… here’s a shot of the thousands of cattle waiting their turn…
