Kiss The Cook Gourmet, Quezon City
I once saw a friend post on Facebook that they were at a restaurant along Maginhawa Street in Quezon City called “Kiss the Cook”. I had actually seen it while going home one day, so I decided that I should try it out one of these days. A few days before another friend described it as “cozy but pricy.” Anyway… I had to see for myself.
Finding the place is rather easy. Basically, it is in front of Holy Family School, to the right of a BPI.

The place itself is quite cozy indeed. It had a nice ambience about it.

Nice tasteful furniture

and definitely an artsy feel to it.

They had three soups on the menu. Which I found very odd. The first two were both variants of Onion Soup. So we ordered the Ham and Cord chowder. Yum. Very creamy.

We ordered a pitcher of Lemon Grass Tea (P80)

Angie ordered this very asian-inspired dish called Bibimbap (P275). Yeah, first time I heard of that. Noodles, bean sprouts, egg…

I asked the waiter what the specialy was… or the most ordered dish was. The waiter suggested “Grilled Afghan Chicken” (P225)

The dish was interesting. I didn’t know what to expect from something “Afghan Grilled”. But it was good.
For dessert. I ordered frozen yogurt. I had the two scoops of Real Vanilla Bean. The other scoop was Pistachio. Ok, the scoops below were the size of golf balls, really small. And each serving is 3 scoops.

Angie ordered the Mango Pana Cotta

The whole mean totaled P900 flat. Quite pricy indeed for a party of two. The whole experience was indeed pleasant. The place had great ambience. The dishes were very nicely presented. I hear that the place is a great evening place. The only problem is that it had parking for 4 vehicles in front (which is actually quite good for an establishment along Maginhawa).

Jojo! Where were you last night? Malen & Meng told me about this blog so I just had to find it.
Kiss the Cook is just a few blocks from our house (we can walk and don’t need to bother with parking) and is a favorite of ours, aside from Pino. Yes, it’s a bit pricey for the neighborhood, but it’s a great change of pace from the noisy drinking places that serve mostly grilled or oily, fried food.
Haven’t had any of what you ordered, but we’ve only eaten there less than half a dozen times, and Exie & I tend to choose seafood over anything else nowadays. So far, we’ve liked everything that we’ve tried. As for their desserts, I love the dark chocolate yogurt and Exie, the coffee panna cotta.
Hope we get to see you again one of these days.
ay naku. short story. in my mind was another resto… when I got there syempre wala kayo… so umuwi na ako…
thanks for visiting my blog. any suggestions where i can go next?
