Orchard Road, SM Mega Mall
I went to SM Mega Mall during lunch time to buy something from Cyberzone. As I had not yet eaten, I decided to try this Singaporean restaurant on the walkway between Building A and Building B. I forgot what floor this was, but this was across the GAP store.
I first heard about this from the FB post of my dear friend Deo Co where he ranted about Chicken Rice. If anyone remembers me ranting about Chicken Rice from my trip to Kota Kinabalu last year know that I love Chicken Rice. So I guess that alone was inspiration for me to try a new place (food is always a good motivator).
I will say now that I apologize in advance for the quality of my phone’s camera.
The place reminded me a little bit like a nice/clean “Hawker Center”. You can go around and see what you might like but you order at any of two ordering stations. Personally I think the place was too dimly lit.
The menu was interesting. A lot of good stuff, but of course, I was there for Chicken Rice. I will go back there for other entrees some other time.
I went with some shrimp dumplings
and of course… Hianese Chicken Rice. I will try the roasted version some other day.
So how was it? It tasted right. It was actually quite good. However I must say the taste is a little milder than the Chicken Rice I am familiar with. I’d give the place an 8 out of 10 for taste. Be that as it may, I’d come back here.
