Angeles City Flying Club, Magalang, Pampanga – April 25, 2009
I was going through my Facebook pictures when I dug up another lakwatsa I had not yet blogged about. This was one of the many activities that pre-dates the Lakwatsero Travel Blog.
For my birthday in 2009, I went on a road trip with my friends R.J. Bumanglag and Bong Zandueta to the Angeles City Flying Club (http://angelesflying.com). Mind you, this place really isn’t actually located in Angeles City… it is actually quite far from Angeles… you exit way past Dau at the very end of NLEX then hang a right towards Concepcion. Their website has a map.
Prior to my going here, I had never heard of the place. I found it just by accident as I was searching for a skydiving outfit in Clark… which, as of this writing, I have not yet found.
Anyway, I have always wanted to fly an ultra-lite plane. And this was my chance!

Anyway, the trip was a blast. While taking place days after my actual birthday, it was part of my week-long birthday celebration… and boy, it was one hell of a birthday trip.

Here I am strapping in!

Taking off!

Wohoo!!!!

Lahar Fields

Here’s a video I put together. Please note, the video is only 1 min, 11 sec. The whole flight lasted 30 min.
Ok… before anyone wonders. NO. I did not fly the plane by myself. There was a pilot beside me. Though I did fly the plane for around 30 seconds when he suggested I take the joy stick.
All in all, it was quite a thrill. I do recommend it to anyone wanting a different experience.

Its recommended that you get the pilot who has RAAF/RAF experience.

Wow, you’re a posh traveller! But I wanna do the adventure trip you did too, although for a backpacker’s point of view it’s out of my budget range…lol.
Haha… Thanks! Well, I look at it from the point of view that we rarely get to do these once in a lifetime activities… You gotta grab the opportunity when you can… the cost of the adventure pays for itself. You can always rebudget other things. In the end it is a matter of prioritation.
