Where do I want to go today?

Woods Hole, Massachusetts – October 10, 2009

I decided to go around the Cape Cod area today, driving past Boston and went down to Cape Cod and I ended up in a small little town called Woods Hole.

I drove in around 10am… just exploring aimlessly. I followed some signs that were pointing towards Martha’s Vineyard. I thought to myself… Hmmm… what if I went straight to Martha’s Vineyard?

When I got to Woods Hole, it looked like a nice little New England coastal town.

After just around 5 min of walking, I eventually found the pier where the Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard was. I walked into the ticketing area, there were around two open windows with around 5 people in line at each Windows. I decided to go to the Men’s room as I need to relieve myself. When I got out, apparently there were these two shuttles arrived and each line had around 50 people each reaching outside. haha.

People who know me know that I can’t stand long lines. In an instant I scrapped the idea to go to Martha’s Vineyard.

In retrospect, I think it was a good move on my part. It was the first day of a 3-day weekend. Most of the folks waiting for the ferry to leave each had a suitcase or other luggage. I am not one for crowds.

Leaving Woods Hole and the Cape Cod area I grinned with delight as I noticed all these cars going the opposite direction. Well, I am sure not everyone was going to Martha’s Vineyard but it did represent the number of folks taking advantage of the long weekend.

  1. I have been visiting Woods Hole since as long as I can remember. If you hate crowds, never go in the summer, especially with a car. You will never find a parking space. It is one of my favorite places in the entire world though. There is nothing better than grabbing an Apple Bear Claw at Pie in the Sky and walking down to Stoney Beach.
