Where do I want to go today?

RSM Lutong Bahay, Los Banos

On the way back to Manila from Pagsanjan at the end of a two-day road trip which started on a trek towards Infanta, Quezon we were looking for a place to have lunch.

We had left Pagsanjan after a morning of shooting the rapids up to Pagsanjan Falls. We hadn’t had breakfast and we were hungry. We left Pagsanjan at around 11am and were hunting for a restaurant along the way. We did see a few options on the way.

Somewhere between Los Banos and Calamba, a few minutes before reaching the end of the SLEX we chanced upon RSM Lutong Bahay at around 12:20. It beckoned… we stopped.

It was a nice big restaurant… with a vast selection of native food, tempting hungry travelers like ourselves screaming “eat me, eat me”.

We argued over what to order… we almost over-ordered (as usual). But we did finally choose. We ordered… they heated… we waited.

Their rice came wrapped in banana leaves with a hard boiled egg and kamatis.

I ordered Kuhol. Yum! I haven’t had kuhol in a while so my mouth was watering over this. When it arrived it came in a huge bowl… they wouldn’t serve a portion of an order… I ended up taking home the left over.

Truth be told, an order of Bulalo was more than what two people could finish. But we went for it anyway. Forget the fact that we had Bulalo the day before at KM3 along the way to Infanta, Quezon. How could we resist the specialty of the house?

To make it even more sinful… the bones were full of marrow. Yum! Cardiac delight indeed. And this bone was quite big… and full of the sinful stuff.

The final healthy item to end the meal. An order of Leche Flan, shared between the two of us of course. Pure heaven!

By around 1:30pm we left RSM and made our way to Calamba towards the SLEX.

Epilogue: Lo and behold, just before getting unto the SLEX, we found another RSM on the left of the road :) Mental note. Next time. Hehe.
